Post-Javaism

In Architecture, the modernists applied scientific principles to create stark designs that were functional but flouted convention. Robert Venturi, whose 1966 book “Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture” defined Post-modernism, criticized this minimalist approach. He celebrated instead the rich mix of historic styles found in great cities such as Rome, which many people find more comfortable than start minimalism. It seems that people thrive on complexity and contradiction.
